So for 18 months I have been on 1mg daily finasteride, and topical 5% minoxidil foam. Around a month and a half ago I noticed significantly increased hair fall and my hair is now noticeably thinner (even if still a long way from what it was prior to starting fin and min). I experienced really strong regrowth when I started using them, but very suddenly I have had massively increased hair fall. Akin to the initial shedding phase on minoxidil as its notably thinned within just a one month time span (and was completely static and steady before this) and lots of hair fall similar to that I experienced when starting the min. I have been worried I might be developing tolerance to it but then again I feel I wouldn't experience hairloss this instantaneous and rapid due to tolerance as tolerance build up is generally a gradual process and this has been very sudden and rapid. My other 2 theories are that prior to this I had been a bit more inconsistent with my min application (only once a day and occasionally missing days) but with no real ill effects as I had been this level of inconsistent for the past year with no loss in progress occurring. But then when I got better at making sure I stuck strictly to the schedule the hairloss began, so it may be a renewed shedding phase (but one that doesn't appear to be ending) due to increased minoxidil exposure. The other factor i have considered is that i have recently restarted taking adhd medication at about the same time this started happening, which being stimulants are a vasoconstrictor. Which obviously is the opposite to minoxidil which is a vasooscilator, so maybe the restrictive effect to the blood flow of the adhd meds are cancelling out the effects of the minoxidil. What do people think the likely causes are and solutions could be?
