I really want my hair to be more weightless and with more defined waves/curls.
I've been trying to figure out my hair type. I always thought it was mainly wavy, but it does curl at the ends and toward the front. I've usually thought I was 2c.
I have a LOT of very fine hair. I've lightly bleached it literally once in my life, several years ago, any other color I use is just semi-permanent dye (Lime Crime specifically). I haven't dyed it in a bit - my natural hair color I've been told is a honey or dirty blonde.
I've tested it and my hair has very low porosity. Because I have super fine hair, it gets oily and weighed down easily. I currently try to avoid products that mainly hydrate and moisturize. I also wash my hair almost every day, at least every other day - when I've tried going longer, my hair got so oily I think it set off more acne on my face.
For awhile I was using Function of Beauty for curly hair, with volumize/shine additions. But recently I've found that's weighing down my hair, so I've been trying the wavy hair version for conditioner, and I recently grabbed an Aussie Miracle Volume for shampoo since I saw it recommended. But now I worry those are drying out my hair too much, so I've been washing with the curly hair one on some days.
I've also tried the Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Mousse. I like it ok but it does make my hair feel sticky and spider webby.
I know that's a lot of products, and there's more I've experimented with, mainly anything that helps achieve a "beach hair" look lol.
Tl;dr: what is my closest "hair type," and what should I be using to make my hair more weightless without drying it out too much?
I would suggest cutting your hair and letting it grow without any bleaching. Your hair is beautiful, but itβs important to find the right shampoo and, most importantly, the right conditioner
