THIS IS MY SECOND HAIR TRANSPLANT
I first traveled to Istanbul, Turkey in November 2022 for a hair transplant procedure. Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the results as they did not provide me with as many grafts as they claimed. Additionally, they added a lot of double and triple grafts to my hairline, which was not what I had expected. It seemed like they were in a hurry during the procedure, which added to my disappointment. Moreover, the grafts they implanted were not placed close enough together, resulting in a lack of density. It was basically a hill mill and I hate myself for not researching my first time lol just wanted to get it done quick! Despite these issues, I decided to give it another try and scheduled a second procedure with Dr. Laorwong on February 13th 2024
During my consultation with Dr. Laorwong, I explained my previous experience and my goal of achieving more density in my hairline. I specifically mentioned that I wanted to be more comfortable even in windy conditions and have my hair appear less see-through when lifted. Given that my hair is very thin and blonde, it tends to look almost invisible. Dr. Laorwong initially quoted me a range of 1000-1200 grafts for the hairline, but to my surprise, he ultimately gave me 1436 grafts. I was thrilled as this meant I would finally have the desired density in my hairline. I also inquired about my thin crown, but Dr. Laorwong reassured me that I would be fine and suggested I use finasteride. I explained that my family members do not suffer from baldness, but rather have naturally thin hair, which is why my hair may appear that way. However, I am hesitant to start finasteride due to potential side effects.
On the day of my consultation, I arrived at the clinic at 2:40pm. I signed the necessary papers and was asked to remove my shoes before entering the facility. I was provided with a pair of sandals to wear. I went upstairs at around 3:33pm for my appointment with Dr. Laorwong, which was scheduled for 3:00pm.
The following day was the surgery day. I arrived at the clinic at 3:00pm and changed into blue scrubs. Dr. Laorwong examined my hair once again, considering my shaved head. I was then given a painkiller, an anti-inflammatory, and a Valium. They also applied some sort of gel in my nostrils. I was then taken to the surgery room, where I was asked to lie down flat on my stomach on a massage chair. The interesting part was that the chair had a transparent face, allowing me to use my phone while undergoing the procedure. I was impressed by this feature. The medical team proceeded to administer an injection to numb the area, which I found surprisingly painless. The graft extraction process followed, and they took a break at 6:15pm for me to have a meal. After eating, they resumed the procedure by focusing on implanting the grafts in my frontal area. I was asked to lie down on the chair once again, and they began implanting the grafts. Strangely enough, I fell asleep during the process and woke up when it was almost finished. The procedure felt remarkably quick. After bandaging me up and placing a bandana on my head, I paid at the reception area and left the clinic at around 9:40pm. For the next five days, I will be following the post-procedure cleaning and laser treatment regimen. I WAS ABLE TO SLEEP FINE AFTER SURGERY!
Overall, I had a total of 1436 grafts done, with 28 single hair grafts, 96 1.5 hair grafts, 537 2-hair grafts, and 775 3-hair grafts. I am cautiously optimistic about the results and hoping for improved density and a natural-looking hairline. My experience with Dr. Laorwong has been positive so far, and I am grateful for the additional grafts he was able to provide during the procedure. However, it remains to be seen how my hair will grow and whether it will meet my expectations. I will also have to weigh the pros and cons of starting finasteride to maintain the results in the long run. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO GO TO BANGKOK AND GO SEE HIM!
