Post Body

Using an at home IPL laser hair remover machine. What safety glasses do you recommend?

-I’ll be trying either the Braun silk expert pro 3 or the Silknbells flash pro Ipl (using hpl technology). I want to buy safety glasses as I’ll be using the IPL on my face area.

Here are the websites with some specs:

https://www.amazon.com/Silkn-Flash-Pro-Permanent-Cartridge/dp/B07CBPHC8P

https://us.braun.com/en-us/female-hair-removal/ipls/silk-expert-pro-3-purple-pl3111

https://us.braun.com/braun-silk-expert-pro-3-ipl-alternative-to-laser-hair-removal-with-3-caps-and-suede-pouch-pl3221/

-Unfortunately I cannot find actual specs on the lasers used so I can properly know which glasses to buy that would protect against the ones used.

I have found some glasses like these:

https://phillips-safety.com/product-category/laser/ipl-safety-glasses/?page=1

https://www.cloudraylaser.com/collections/laser-safety-glasses

https://www.kenteklaserstore.com/kxl-6001-laser-safety-glasses

And I’m wondering if these would be good enough? Or if you have any recommendations for me under $75

Thank you!

Just wanted to ask whereabouts on your face do you plan to use it? The worry is that if it’s too close to your eyes then the way it works (the light energy is attracted to pigmented structures and destroys them) could cause your eye itself to be damaged regardless of sunglasses being worn. If you’re using it on upper lip for example then that’s ok it’s far enough away from your eyes and you’ll actually probably see the light less than you would if you were say using it on your legs because of the angles. So I’d say the same as others - don’t buy anything specialised, normal sunglasses will be fine for home treatment and then only if the light is bothering you with closed eyes or you need to watch your hand to stay on track.

But don’t try and do your eyebrows is my main message here! Safety glasses won’t offer any extra protection.
