Help! Dyed my hair and colour isn't right.

I dyed my hair over the weekend over faded ginger/blondish hair. It was meant to be a brighter copper/ginger colour but it's turned out red. No ginger in sight. How do I fix this? Do I need to see a professional or can I fix it at home?
