Hi lovelies! I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit but I have a question about dyeing hair at home. Personally I get my hair done at a salon because I get it bleached and I don’t play with that hahaha. But my mom is another story. She has dyed her hair a orangish blonde (no toner!) with box dye for the past couple of years. It’s pretty grown out now due to quarantine and she hasn’t touched it in about 4 months. She wants to get her done professionally now but her salon charges ALOT for color correction, which I understand but my mom refuses to pay for it haha. So I offered to help her dye her hair brown at home. I know it’s not the greatest idea and that the dye will make the hair a bit harder to dye but since she isn’t looking to make it super super super light (think something along caramel highlights) I’m thinking I could do it. I’m not a hairstylist by any means hence why I’m here asking for advice.

After some research I saw people saying to use a filler to avoid the green hue. 20 developer for both the color and filler. The filler should be red/ orange and some people said even just a brown with red tones but using the red seems a bit easier? Like I said I have no idea. Anyways I’m planning on taking a little trip to the beauty supply store (no box dye!) so product reccomendations would be great as well! Thank you guys :)
