Sword attack too easily cancellable?

Since the attack and special for the sword have a small bit of windup that can be interrupted by other inputs, it's very easy when trying to weave attacks and specials together quickly to accidentally cancel your moves. It can be somewhat frustrating to miss out on a special you were hoping would give you some space or apply a debuff. How would you guys feel if the sword attack and special couldn't cancel each other?
Note: I have no problem with either being cancellable by the dash.
