Just a story I want to share with my fellow HVAC techs,

Years ago, when I started off in the trade, I get dispatched to a service call of a foul odour coming from the fan coil system, in a very high end condo, Downtown Toronto. Top floor, 2 levels. Beautiful lake view.

The pilot had been flying and hadn’t been home in about 6 weeks.

The literally smell of urine, everywhere. White leather sofa , now tinted dark yellow. Walls, dark yellow. And everything else is covered in sticky piss.

Found it to be a water bottle that was filled with piss, that had tipped over, and got nicked by the blower wheel and misted piss every where.

Well insurance covered most of the cleaning and damage, until the smell wouldn’t go away after many times of sanitation and cleaning.

The insolation inside the ductwork has gotten soaked. The pilot had to pay out of pocket to open up all the walls and replace all the ducts.

So just a heads up to guys on recent construction and new installs, check for the water bottles and save yourself, and others, the bull-piss in years to come.
