Hello, so Im in a new position at a facility that suffers greatly from inefficient operations. I'm trying to compile data to back up justification for my plan of action.
One of my items im addressing is boiler load.
The facility has eight heat exchangers. They are located in mechanical rooms that have significant air flow as the mech room is the intermediary between the return and the AHU. These heat exchangers are uninsulated painted steel. The exchanger shells are 7' long x 6.5" diameter. I came up with the following:
Uninsulated Surface Temp: 122 degrees F Heat Loss: 159.3 BTU/h/ft
Insulated Surface Temp: 75 degrees F Heat Loss: 16.8 BTU/h/ft
Ambient Temperature: 70 degrees F
Air movement @ 1 cu ft min
Heat Exchanger Shell: Painted Steel Shell Dimensions: 7' long x 6.5" Diameter Calculated Shell Surface Area:12.77 sq Ft
Uninsulated BTU lost daily: 48822.26 per heat exchanger
Insulated BTU lost daily: 5136.60 per heat exchanger
Can anyone confirm?
