I’ve never used a thermal camera before and I’ve been in residential hvac for just under 2 years. I’ve seen a few pictures of y’all on here using this flir one pro and I guess I’m a bit uneducated on thermal cameras. I know many people in my company have used them to determine insulation value in walls and things like that, but I’ve seen pictures of it being used on coils and I love that idea. Can somebody educate me on that real quick. I’m assuming you know there’s a leak and so here in Texas 95% of leaks are from the evap coil, so you take the thermal cam and check out the coil with that? And where the temperature drops quickly you start your leak search there? I love the idea, is that the mindset behind it? Thanks in advance!
