Pulling deep vacuum
Post Body

Got into a conversation with my service manager about pulling vacuums on systems, I did a compressor on Friday and got it to 320 microns, performed 10 minute decay test and that went fine (709 microns after 10 minutes). Boss man said he hasn’t done a decay test in years, said if it gets below 400 microns then he knows there’s no leaks and just fills them up. I’ve got just 3 years of service/maintenance experience but I was taught to always do a decay test just in case, I mean what’s 10 minutes extra? So what do yall think of this, are you more experienced techs doing decay tests or just sending it?
