Looking to switch into doing HVAC. I've got experience in maintenance, equipment wiring, commercial and industrial sheet metal, field engineering, and a few other hat tricks at ten years experience. Been at this trade ten years. I've gotten my EPA 608, been doing PMs on my family's and friends units, and I'm building up my tools to do work as an installer, maintenance, resi guy, really about anything. Put an application out, return offer was as an apprentice, around $17/hr, for 90 days, then possibility of being a full installer, no mention of what that pay looks like. Is this reasonable? While I agree that my skillset may not have the full breadth of what is needed to install units, I'm also certain that I can pick up the missing pieces in just a handful of weeks. East Tennessee area, if anyone in area maybe has some more reasonable leads.
