I was diagnosed 18 years ago, I've only had one major OB but I've had plenty of tingling and itchiness over the years.
After being with only one partner since diagnosis there's now a possibility of new partners coming into my life, therefore I want to take the proper precautions.
I saw my GP yesterday and asked to be put on antiviral meds for my HSV2 , she looked at me and asked "why?!". Not wanting to get into my personal life I told her to help deal with how contagious I could be. She asked about my previous OB and when I told her it had been a long time since I had had sores but have had other symptoms, tingling and itchiness, she literally looked at me and said " well that could be anything" and "you might not even have it anymore", WTF?! I told her that that's simply not true and asked in that case if she'd run the blood test to confirm, she then told me that it would come back positive because I did have it at one time 🤦🏼♀️ SO FRUSTRATING! She told me that if I don't have sores she would not treat me or give me meds.
Is this a common reaction?
Am I wrong to want to start meds?
