Here’s the thing, I’ve had GHSV-2 for about 6-7 weeks now. I’ve had 2 outbreaks, but none since I started daily AV’s. My question is this: define what exactly constitutes an outbreak. The reason I ask this is because it’s not always so obvious. If daily AV’s are going to stop me from having cluster outbreaks that break open, then is it still safe to have sex if an outbreak has started but doesn’t get to the point where it turns into open sores? (Because the AV’s stop me from getting to that point).

For example, when I wasn’t on the meds, it was obvious - clusters of sores that would break open, and eventually heal over. However, that hasn’t happened since being on the meds. I want to ensure I’m being as safe as possible if and when I have sex again. What I do still experience is general skin discomfort pretty much constantly, and sometimes it seems more red/irritated than other times. I also seem to be itchy at times even if there’s no sign of any sores. I also once saw a small pimple-like sore appearing on the shaft of my penis but it quickly disappeared before it became a textbook outbreak. Would it have been safe to have sex with that little pimple that wasn’t a full blown open sore?

The other thing that’s very annoying for me personally is the location of my two major problem areas. For me, the outbreaks generally occur at the very base of my penis on either side of it, so far down that it’s almost not even on my penis. It’s basically where it attached to my body. Most condoms don’t reach all the way down my penis for me, (yes, I’m packing lol 😂), so it almost seems pointless for me to wear them as a preventative measure. I just feel like despite me taking precautions I’m still going to give this shit to someone else on the first go.
