Hi guys, this is for my husband he is diagnosed with hsv-1 we never had reason if it is transmitted to me or not. Since we had our twin babies 3 years ago my husband decided to take valtrex 500 mg daily to prevent any outbreaks and not transmitting to his children.

The doctors here in saudi refused to prescribe it to him and they said it is just cold sore in the lips so for sure once you get outbreaks you will not kiss your kids. He had dozen of visits until the doctors agreed to prescribe 250mg to be taken every other day. So is this effective? Or we can go back to 250mg daily or 500mg daily. Since then no outbreak is there which is really good sign.

Now he is taking daily 600 mg of L-arginine is it going to show any outbreaks ? Or the valtrex suppress it ?
