Its funny how wildly different the Fandom and reality is when it comes to Syltherin

Post Body

In the Fandom, syltherins are these dramatic, brooding, emo rich kids who love politics and are bullied, which is why they bully back. It's all 3 houses agaist them, the poor things

In canon: Syltherin as a house are very much more jocks/preppy rich kids who have a hard on for bigotry and show no understanding of politics outside of a love of fascism. Their constant cheating, using of influence and frankly Snape being a jerk makes them somewhat unliked by the other houses, especially since it's clear Snape rigged the cup for years before Harry got there. I mean remember it's the house of Goyle and Crabb, 2 dimensional bullies. It's also the house of Pansy the most preppy rich girl stereotype. in existence. And when is Draco some tender emo boy other than 6th year, in which every boy is an tender emo boy. Even then, he is doing fascism, under duress sure, but still helping kill his fellow students, not like, writing bad poetry and cutting.

This isn't even bashing. I get that it sucks Syltherin is one dimensional. And folks want the Fandom version so much. And Fandom versions aren't even bad. But like, maybe when other folks are discussing canon, don't scream the fanon at them? JKR being a bad author and making a house largely evil and only trying to redeem said house in the last 2 books, frankly poorly, doesn't make it less true. Even Slughorn literally slept on the reason Voldemort was immortal for his entire life, including the first war.
