I hate them. I always nope out when they appear. They are used as a deus ex machina and to make/train Harry into a literal OP god of the wizarding world, for some reason.
Now don’t get me wrong i don’t mind if their stories are explored more, but there shouldn’t be thousand year old portraits hidden (or out in plain sight in a room) that nobody ever found or whatever.
Part of the appeal of the founders is how they are shrouded in mystery and seem so ancient and unknown. When you try to explain it or have them reappear as a ghost or a vision or something for the first time in thousands of years to some 11 year old child, all the magic is lost. They are also usually portrayed kinda meh, or childish.
Anyone feels the same? It’s like the same thing as Harry finding a portrait of his parents or other relatives in his vault or at the “Potter Manor”
