Poorly done in fanfics but has potential.

What are things that you notice in fanfics that are often done badly but have the potential to be super cool and unique to the story.

For me it has to be an understanding of wand lore. Like there isn’t anything known about it from the books so you can basically make it however you want.

Like with how Olivander says “the wand chooses the wizard”

Is it the wood? The core? A combination of the 2?

And how does it choose, like is it just your magic that chooses? Or does it have anything to do with the life you’ve lived.

And what about stories with wand that have more than one core or wood.

Like there are so many different combinations of cores and wood.

Does the particular core matter? Like could any dragon heartstring do the trick or is it only that particular one. We don’t know. And on that note. It would be almost impossible for anyone to find their correct wand. Does he just give out the wand that works best but he knows it’s better to get a custom one but the ministry pays him?

So many things to go into and if you do it right it can be super interesting and not just a plot device for Harry being super powerful because his wand has more than 1 core.

Like what if having more than 1 core or wood wasn’t that strange but just more expensive, so if you find a pre made wand that works well enough people just don’t bother? Or something to do with wand in Britain in particular?

Like I read one where it’s recommended that you have your wand checked every 2 years or after any big traumatic incident. So as you get older it’s not rare to have more than 1 core or to change the wood of the wand completely.

So many tiny thing you can go into and not just a “Harry has a wand with more than 1 core/wood so it proves he’s powerful”.

What are other things that are often don’t poorly but if done right could be insanely cool and unique to the story?
