Yesterday we brought home new Alienware i9, RTX 3080 TI, Windows 11 box mostly for Microsoft flight simulator. Today, our HP reverb G2 arrived and we have been beating our heads against the wall for the last 8 hours. I've read innumerable posts on Reddit and elsewhere about the challenges of Windows 11 as a clean install and we are dead in the water.
I've tried to install the windows mixed reality portal at least 7 or 8 times. Updated every possible thing through Windows update, updated the NVIDIA drivers directly from Nvidia, manually uninstall the device, both audio and video, on the device manager while deleting that present install of mixed reality to try clean. It is, to my skill level, an utterly hopeless and unsolvable problem.
I read people that had some random solutions that worked including using the command prompt to delete some configurations which I tried multiple times. The only thing I have not tried is editing the registry.
Does anyone have any information on a real fix that I missed? It seems like Windows and Microsoft don't care, Dell isn't answering the phone these days and HP is pretty hopeless. At least I never got anyone on the phone.
Unless somebody is much more knowledgeable than me this desktop is going back to microcenter tomorrow, I'm returning the Logitech rudder pedals and HOTAS and dumping the VR headset back to hp. From a level of family trauma I should point out I have 12 and 14 year old boys so any parents will understand why a solution would be preferable. 😃
