probably stupid but, why hasn't harry researched vampires?

I mean, yea it seems like there would be all sorts of side effects and depending on the particulars of the vampires it may cost lives but it is worth a look. for example vampires in white wolf retain their human magic (well some of it) and can drink animal blood, less than a pint a day, and live normal productive lives.
