One criticism the world of Harry Potter has always had is it seems there is no limit on magic. Anyone theoretically has unlimited power as there is zero cost.
But this is a pretty cool reveal that the words use are an actual language of their own. I know in HBP Snape created a spell but there was no finer details given to how that happened.
Is is someone's job in a room all day studying this magic language to find word combinations that could be used for different effects. Would love to see this explored more in universe but especially in this game they have the possibility with the new careers coming
It makes sense that somebody had to be, but still pretty cool to run into them!!
1) I know that experience counts for what spells you can use. What I am referring to is the cost of the magic. There is nothing stopping you continuously using a spell once you know it. In all other magic systems, there is a cost to magic. Whether you are drawing it from an external source, using your own life force, etc. But in the end it is expendable. Harry Pooter does not have any developed system like this.
2) I know. There are multiple instances of that or not needing words at all (Hogwarts Legacy showed even that you don't even require a wand even). And I never said it was Latin. I specifically think if it was something to he explored it would be its own unique language which might have some roots in Latin but not exclusively from it and might also incorporate colours, sounds, imagery etc the same way animals communicate.

I know that in the real world, a lot of them have Latin roots. But I don't think that's ever been expressly stated within the universe?
So yeah, you would think there would be a Latin class (or whatever shoot off language they want to call it since they arent all Latin) unless it's purposely not because it's too dangerous to try in most cases.
