Sooooo, Iâll try to make this a quick one.
Moved into new home 2020. Community wonât be turn over to residents till 100% of crew community is sold and closed on. Per HOA rules resident are not allow to park anywhere but inside their garage. Exemptions stickers are given for new move ins with over sized trucks or if they have three cars. That kinda of thing. However,if you purchase a larger vehicle or a third vehicle while already a resident an exemption will not be given. that new larger vehicle is not allowed to park on the street, visitor parking or pool area parking in our gated community. Has to be parked along the street outside of the community)
Back to my main issue, our two vehicles did fit in our garage. Was a bit tight especially for my spouse and we noticed he had become more and more out of breath over time maneuvering in and out and around the two vehicles. We applied for an exemption to park one on the street so that he can easily and with out loosing his breath trying to squeeze all around our garage. Denied.
After a unexpected hospital stay we found out my spouse has a heart condition that at times severely effects his lungs and oxygen levels. He can not walk very far at all or fast with out being winded on his bad days. We speak to the cardiologist and ask him to sign off on getting a permanent handicap back license plate and a placard. He agreed as this diagnosis will get worse over time. We went back to management company emailing them again applying for a parking exemption sticker for one vehicle due to my husbands medical handicap. Submitted all the forms required filled out all their forms. Wasnât not granted the sticker pending hearing back from their legal team. Weeks later and we are granted one. Awesome! Happy residents!
Well a few weeks ago my husband and I purchased new cars. As we had done in the past,we emailed management company with our updated vehicle information and asking for two new community Stickers for the vehicles as well as our one âresident exemption parking stickerâ Denied!! Here is what she said in her email
âThe exemption sticker does not automatically carry over to a new a vehicle. A new application and evidence of handicap will need to be submitted, as wellâ
Wtf? Prove again the handicap? Seriously?? Can they ask for us to reprove his handicapped and apply again for this sticker? He was not miraculously cured from a non curable disease. Not sure it violates any in the Americans with disabilities Act. But This is a very personal issue that they are making him put on display for a second time. Over a parking sticker.
âTypically, we would deny any exemption requests such as this, as we typically only allow parking exemptions for vehicles which were owned prior to owning the home and joining the HOA as a memberâ âPlease remember These parking stickers are a privilege to haveâ
I mean come on?!?!?!?!? Am I wrong for being highly annoyed and upset over this??
