Language Selected: Terran[3]

Narth Lodal

  1. A Xlaxi[1] word translating loosely as "Honor", "Glory", "Courage", or "Duty"; literally translating as "The death that gives". It is considered one of the highest feats achievable by a Xlaxi warrior[2] , the pursuit of it one of the four core tenents[3] of their culture.

  2. A sculpture on the planet of Yienneth Prime[4] . Hand carved[5] from granite, the sculpture depicts an injured human marine[6] lying against a drop pod[7] . The marine's right arm and leg in tandem hold up a gauss rifle[8] , his left hand holds an armed plasma grenade[9] despite the severe shrapnel injuries covering his entire left side. The marine's helmet is off, revealing a face of angry defiance.
The sculpture was carved in honor of the crew of the HSS Dauntless, A Terran Assault Cruiser[10] . During the first Xlaxi-Zengoth War[11] , the Terran ship came upon the siege of Yienneth Prime[12] while acting as a forward scout for the Xlaxi allied Terran Federation[13] . Instead of waiting for reinforcements, the ship, despite not being rated for atmospheric flight, dived through the orbiting fleet to deploy drop pods[7] and landing craft[14] from low altitude before crashing into the main Zengoth staging ground. While the crew suffered 95% casualties, their actions halted the Zengoth invasion long enough for the Terran fleet to arrive and relieve the planet. It's estimated that their sacrifice saved between 1 to 4 billion Xlaxi[1] .
