So I recently posted a picture of the LG BH 100 hybrid Blu-ray disc and HD DVD player that I found for a really good price. Everything works fine, I have the firmware updated to the last one that was released in 2010, and it will play any production disc that I put in it whether it’s a CD DVD HD DVD or Blu-ray. However it will not play any copied discs whatsoever and I can’t figure out why. I’m not sure if this is a software thing like any anti-piracy kind of deal or if the laser is just not physically capable of reading a copied blu ray. Any insight?

Note that I have not tried a copied HD DVD because in 2020 that would be nearly impossible. I would have to find a drive capable of burning a blank HD DVD, the blank HD DVDs themselves, and software capable of doing it so I’ve only tried a copied Blu-ray disc.
