So what I loved about today was cementing how Brazil, Italy and the UK are firmly in the top tier of Women's artistic gymnastics teams, but that (and some of the threads below) lead me to wonder which teams we might expect to emerge onto the scene in the next few quads?
I think Romania is finally headed in a good direction, and South Korea qualifiying a team was really cool.
I think we might be seeing more from Mexico and the Philippines in the future, but what other countries should we keep an eye on?
On the flip side, are there any countries we see falling off, struggling to qualify a team for worlds or the Olympics in 2028?
I really had hopes for the Chinese WAG today. They just haven’t been able to pull it together. Why don’t they consider getting a dedicated vault and floor specialist to help them increase their power and difficulty? It seems like the strategy of relying on only bars and beam isn’t working. I was so disappointed for Zhou Yaqin. I’ve seen her perform that beam routine nearly perfect multiple times before. I’m not sure if she’s in the beam final, but if she is I hope she can do much better.
