you cant fix it, or more accurately. no one wants to pay for it. to fix i85, you cant just expand the roads, you need to expand the city. doesnt matter how many lines you make if it all floods in to one drain.
think about what it costs to pick up and move a house. now imagine doing that with atlanta.
the only other solution is going up or down. imagine the price of addinga basement to your house. youd be doing that with all of atlanta.
building upward, like futurama, would be functionally rebuilding a city on top of the city.
your best/worst option would be to hit the big red "reset" button and start over. im hoping this internet generation has more people working from home and starts removing these finance pits. people would still congregate to one location, as they always do, but they wouldnt be obligated too to survive.
i know lots of people who would avoid the city like the plague if it wasnt for work.
