As always on the trail of our favourite gentleman footballer, here's a quick correction on the recent rumour that Mathieu Flamini signed for Getafe in La Liga:

Flamini had been trialing/training with Getafe since after Christmas (he's apparently in this photo, although it's hard to say), had passed his fitness test, and Getafe are interested, but negotiations got complicated and appear to have now fallen through.

No word on the reason; a Milan site suggests that he's pursuing something else, but doesn't back that up. What we can conclude, though, is that despite the January transfer window ticking to a close, our man doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to get back to his football career.

For those that remember stories about trialing with Rayo Vallecano in November, that rumour was false, having been denied by both parties.

As an aside, Flamini is represented by Darren Dein. I hadn't realized at the time, but Dein also negotiated his last contract with Arsenal. So our perennial free agent has not been agent-free for a while.
