Sorry it took so long to respond. I cut out random patterns on 2" painters tape and put them on in a random pattern. I usually have several types of branches,roots and wild grass at the ready and I use 4 colors of earth tone rattel cans and I just keep mixing up the patterns of the natural masks untill it looks randomly organic. Then it's dry I just pull the tape off.
