[DISCUSSION] Is anyone else sick of hearing that certain guitar-based genres are dead?

I saw a member of the Strokes commenting that there was no more room for blues rock any more, followed by "please, no more of that." And it's not just them, everyone has heard Gene Simmons and a million others repeat "rock is dead" over and over.

Does anyone else find this sentiment really annoying? There are many people in their 20s now who are only discovering the stuff that came out in the 60s, 70s and 80s, when the band members were the same age as themselves now. I'm one of those people, and it sounds ridiculous "no more blues rock" after I get a Slash Les Paul and learn a bunch of Zeppelin riffs. Did I pick up the instrument, learn songs from my heroes and write my own riffs all because of a "dead" genre? Do music genres have limits now?

Sorry for salty post lmao. I don't take these comments seriously, but it's annoying to hear from other musicians. Have you experienced the same?
