Post Body

I'm learning the solo from In the Dragon's Den by Symphony X. I've been practicing string skipping in order to get it up to speed; it's my first time actually investing so much time in a technique.

My problem is that when i practice the string skipping part slow, my left hand tenses up after 3-4 repetitions; when i practice the string skipping part faster, my left hand tenses up in the middle of the first try.

At that point I stop playing and my hand remains numb (imagine TV white noise in your hand) for half a hour or more.

What am I doing wrong? :(
