I'm going to build my first guitar. I'm going to make mistakes, as I have no experience. I've been a carpenter and an electrician a long time but no guitar tech experience. I'm prepared to learn and probably fight every mistake. What I don't want to fight is the neck and fret work because that scares me the most, lol. I want to simply buy a neck and bolt it on. I'll struggle and most likely enjoy everything else. Finishing the body, locating and installing the bridge, the set-up etc, etc.
Here's my question. Can I just buy a fender MIM neck for $200 and only have to deal with the nut or is there a cheaper alternative? I simply don't have the confidence to deal with fret work, yet.
