[question] What’s a way to get past the odd feeling of strumming when you’re a beginner?

So I’ve recently started taking up guitar right handed. I’m a lefty and have played for 2 years, but my aunts boyfriend recently gave me an old squier acoustic so I figured why not, “I can play every guitar in the store this way!” So obviously at first your arm feels uncomfortable at the beginning because you aren’t used to the placement. How to alleviate this? Like when I strum with a pick it feels like I’m hitting the strings hard even though I’m not and strum just fine lefty, is it involving arm strength? Thanks for the help!
