I know there's the whole argument of: "someone who has never played the guitar before, can sit down and learn Free Bird even if it takes a year, if that's all they do. That doesn't mean they're good, because all they can do is play Free Bird, not because of skill or accumulated practice, but because they've grinded it so many times."
But what I mean is if I want to be actually good at the guitar, and be able to play properly, and learn solos efficiently. How adept would you say you need to be?
I just started playing about a month and a half ago, and am currently getting lessons as well as practicing in Rocksmith 2014. I can play full songs like Damnit by Blink, and other punk/rock genres as well as some blues. I'd say the hardest song I can play is The Thrill is Gone by BB King.
How much better do I need to be to even think of tackling, Free Bird for example? How good mechanically would you have to be? What about by ear? Finger strength/dexterity wise? If it's hard to gauge you can answer in terms of Levels at Formal Music Schools.
PS. Apologies for a probably really, really dumb question >.<
