Bassists: Do you use a pick? Why or why not? Guitarists: do you prefer a pocket or a finger-player?
Post Body

I realize that there is more than likely a bass player sub, but I'm coming at this question as a guitarist who's interested in thinking about why bassists could go one way or the other.

There's clearly no right or wrong answer to this. My bassist plays sans pick, I play sans pick when I mess around with a bass, and I like the flexibility that playing with your fingers affords.

BUT, I know what it means to play with a pick. I get it. Certain styles call for it. I'm just curious about which technique you, fellow reddit players, prefer and stick to and why.
