Post Body

I'm not new at all to guitars and amps, but relatively new to computer recording (although very comfortable with computers generally). I'm looking for advice from people experienced with these things if possible... I have a Helix, and have been using it straight into monitors, but recently connected it to my computer to use as an interface into Reaper to do some recording. I'm now really curious about getting Amplitube and ToneX to delve more into modelling and profiling, but I'm wondering whether I should stick with the Helix as an interface, or get a dedicated interface like the AXE IO and have the Helix as an input into that. A few questions that I'm struggling with...

  1. Would a dedicated interface give me anything that the Helix doesn't? Like better performance or controls? I do like the idea of using the Helix to control Amplitube via midi if it works fine as an interface.
  2. What would the normal routing be if I go down this route? At the moment I'm using the Helix as my soundcard effectively, so that all computer sound is routed back through the Helix to monitors. Is this the right way if I'm going to be using models in Amplitube?
  3. Is there even any point in buying Amplitube if I have the Helix? Are there better models available or are the Helix models better/just as good?

Any advice or pointers to good guides would be really appreciated!
