[Question] Amp vs DAW for home use?

Post Body

Hi, probably a silly question but here goes...

I am a home only player and currently have a Boss Katana 50 mk2 and Katana Mini that I use for practice.

The 50 is only ever on .5 watt mode and the mini has awful static noise when I use it with a power supply so I'm beginning to wonder if a DAW would be a better solution for me.

For those of you in the know is this a good idea (on paper) as I'm tempted by amp in a box pedals like the Joyo American Sound but assume that would need a powered speaker to work properly?

I've tried asking similar questions in the Katana subreddit but usually get responses that tell me to keep using the amp!

Thanks
