Got 2 80 boosts with purchase, use for mount?

I got 2 lvl 80 boosts from buying the expansions, but I'm a brand new player. From what I read so far, people say don't use it on your first character, so you actually learn the game.

Would it be worth using on an alt simply to get to 80, go to POF, and to get the first mount so my main character can use it?

Running around slowly between things seems... tedious.

EDIT: Used 1 of my boosts on a warrior to use as an alt later on, and to get the mount. Thanks for the advice! Zooming through the base game feels a lot better now.
