Getting into GW1 in 2022 as a Solo Player

So I bit the bullet and got the Complete Collection last night, started a Paragon in Nightfall, and have hit level 6. I want to play through the various campaigns and quests, and I mostly solo with Heroes / Henchmen. Are there any good guides out there to help me learn how to really maximize my heroes, and my own character? Right now I am a paragon / ranger cause I wanted a pet, but I have no idea if thats a good idea.

Any help, guidance, and guides you can suggest (video or written) would be appreciated!
