Hi we are thinking of planting native berries around our cabin in BC canada, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries etc, and we are interested in edible mushrooms like chicken of the woods or similar- never grown shrooms before but we do have a lots of dead wood and fallen trees around and chicken of the woods is native here, is it possible and did anyone successfully make it ? And how? Iv seen some videos of cutting paper like layers of the bottom part of the shroom to reproduce them so that will be my first try on newly fallen trees after the flood we just got.. also is it better to order spores from etsy ? Found syringes of them for 10 bucks or a cut of already existing ones?
Rather than collecting fresh mushrooms, just look into mushroom plugs--plenty of canadian websites and plenty of chicken of the woods distributors.
Essentially, you drill a little hole into a tree that supports the mushroom, logs work too but you have to sanitize them, and then insert the plug and wait.
