Howdy brethren!
I've been away making memes with lists using fixed secondaries to great success, and now, I have a new list to share. But first, in case you haven't seen my original post about winning with fixed secondaries, you may want to visit that. The tactical approach there is the core behind why this list can work.
Additionally, here are some qualifiers/objectives behind this list:
- This list is guided towards a TEAMS FORMAT. This means I won't be subject to every single type of matchup in the game, and that's okay. It can still be oppressive in the right tournaments, and may be even better than "traditional" GK lists.
- This list is intended to be the opposite of what GK have been for all of 10e: killy. It leans hard into lethality and aggression to try and maim opponents to keep them from gaining a footing.
I've also only tested this list a couple times into other tournament players, but I've tabled both opponents before turn 5 and the results were honestly revolting. Here's the list:
Grey Knights
Strike Force (2000 points)
Teleport Strike Force

Brother-Captain Stern (90 points)
Brotherhood Techmarine (95 points)

Nemesis Dreadknight (185 points)
• 1x Heavy incinerator
• 1x Heavy psycannon
• 1x Nemesis daemon greathammer
Nemesis Dreadknight (185 points)
• 1x Heavy incinerator
• 1x Heavy psycannon
• 1x Nemesis daemon greathammer
Nemesis Dreadknight (185 points)
• 1x Heavy incinerator
• 1x Heavy psycannon
• 1x Nemesis daemon greathammer
Purifier Squad (260 points)
• 4x Incinerator
ALLIED UNITS
Callidus Assassin (90 points)
Yeah so... it's 6 Dreadknights, all the characters necessary for brainless fixed secondaries, and Crowe Purifiers for infantry murder. The Callidus was originally a second Strike Squad, but "downgrading" to a Callidus meant I could add Sigil of Exigence to a GMNDK and Vect marines and their AOC strat, which will be powerful for this list.
The Tests So Far
I've only played two games with them so far, but the results so far are something that just isn't possible with other GK lists even into the same matchups.
Drukhari - This game was against one of my team captains, and he's a talented, seasoned tournament player. He was running the new Drukhari detachment with all the bells and whistles. The Dreadknights tabled the list by the end of the game. Psycannons are insane into Drukhari, and the 16D6 Incinerator shots in the list made quick work of everything else. This might be our most favorable matchup in a strict profile vs profile comparison. The dark lances are dangerous, so be careful around those.
Death Guard - This was against another team captain, and admittedly it was his first time playing DG again in a while. I got first turn, so the dreadknights just staged for a turn 2 tussle. Turn 2, the Dreadknights and Crowe shot out 20 plague marines, a MBH, a Rhino, and a PBC. Turn 3, they scooped 10 Blightlord Terminators, another PBC, another Rhino, and started chipping Mortarion. Top of 5 Mortarion was felled by a Dreadknight in tank shock, and was the last model on the table.
What's the point in outlining all this? Dreadknight shooting is really good now. Really good. The extra AP AND Ignores Cover was more than we could have hoped for on Psycannons, let alone the improved hit chance on hammers.
Why & When This List Works
- If your opponent is fielding massed terminators, gravis, marines, or anything TEQ/MEQ, you will outmaneuver and outgun them. Anything with 3 wounds is in peril. Custodes beware!
- If your opponent is fielding tons of cheap GEQ infantry, they will die. 16D6 Incinerator shots kills about 40 guardsmen on median output, and THEN there's the 36 Psycannon shots for tankier things, 28 stormbolter shots and 24 purifying flames from Crowe. If you are infantry, you are dead.
- That leaves tanky things. What if your opponent is running knights, Norns or other thiccboi things? Into something T11 with a 4 you can land about 12 damage a turn with psycannons, so it is much slower, but it is possible. That doesn't count the incinerators, tank shock, hammers, or anything else though. The fact that you can whittle something tough down that substantially is helpful so that only a failed save or two into a hammer is needed to finish the job. The T11 stuff is where we slow down, but it's still manageable.
- Dreadknights can Teleport Assault. This mitigates the LOS issues that other shooty lists have to deal with.
- Because this list runs the memes for fixed secondaries, you don't have to worry about secondaries at all. In fact, because you ACTUALLY take vehicles, you can hide techmarines for more consistent scoring and leverage their buffing/healing. You should be getting 35 points on secondaries without really trying.
Why & When This List Can Fail
- If you happen to run into lance/lascannon spam of some kind, you have to have faith in your 4 . Dreadknights are a fascinating durability tipping point into tons of armies (Custodes wound on 5 with lots of melee weapons, for example), but things like meltas will work great into them. Be cautious of what can cripple the dreadknights on a couple bad rolls and neutralize them as quickly as possible. Mortarion was that beast in my DG matchup, and the game plan was to play hide and seek from him while I swept everything else. In a teams situation, you should avoid anti-vehicle matchups, obviously.
- This list serves up 38 points for Assassinate and BID combined. It's a bit of a layup if you get tabled, but it really puts the onus on your opponent to ACTUALLY table you. If you were getting tabled, your opponent would get high points on secondaries anyways, so I don't see it as an issue.
Overall, this list is probably a teams format heaver hitter for memes, and outside of that subject to any other anti-skew that any skew list is susceptible to. I'm excited to test it further!
