All of the services I use remotely for work are hosted by Microsoft's Azure. Unfortunately, downloading from Azure on Greenlight (I had 500/500) is abysmally slow, anywhere from 0.5mb/s to 1.5mb/s depending on the day. I asked a couple friends who live near me and they get the same speeds. I asked some Spectrum friends to test and they're getting 10-20mb/s!
Checking speedtest.net I was consistently about 400mb/s so I knew it wasn't my connection.
I spent a couple hours with Azure support at work trying to figure it out and they blamed Greenlight. I opened a ticket with Greenlight in mid March 2023, and it's now June and it's still not resolved. For some reason the support guys I talked to who were also on greenlight were getting 10mb/s, so I'm not sure it affects all Greenlight customers? I couldn't wait any longer and today had to switch back to Spectrum and just measured 18mb/s.
It's a shame, with the 2-year Spectrum promotion I'm paying $50/mo for 500/20, which is far inferior to the 500/500 I was getting with Greenlight, but it doesn't help if the servers I use most are only allowed ~1mb/s through my ISP.
If you're curious if you're affected, you can try downloading a 100mb blob file from https://www.azurespeed.com/Azure/Download and pick one of the US East servers, you can check the speed from downloads in Chrome while it's downloading. Would be curious if people could post their results and general location. I believe any site that's hosted on Azure will be slow if you're affected. Thanks!
