AARON RODGERS AND OTHER THINGS THAT MADE ME SAD
Watch Jimmy G. kind of drift slowly back in between zone coverage. MVS is also coming open over the top of Adams' shallow route
Look at MVS in the middle of the field and Adams on the right. They're both open and both easier throws than the shot Rodgers takes
It's 3rd and 10 and Adams is 1on1 on the right side, just make the throw. I know it's Slay but I'll take Adams 1on1 every day and twice on Sunday
It's 2nd and 1. Take the check down
Great play call by McCarthy. The Lions do a great job handing off the receiver in motion before the snap but it doesn't matter because it already has the second DB chasing MVS. Graham and EQ clear the other side of the field. He's wide open and Rodgers misses him. Adams is also open
Kendricks is wide open to pick up some yardage on a 2nd and 20. But Nah
When crossing routes go wrong!!! It looks like Monty messes up the cut into his route. Madness ensues
Graham has to make this catch
ROUTES AND OTHER THINGS THAT MAKE r/GreenBayPackers LOSE THEIR FUCKING MINDS
Look at the beauty that is the route design at the bottom left of the screen. Look at how much space it creates but i I think Rodgers is looking at MVS in the middle of the field and doesn't pull the trigger. It might by that the pocket was closing in
Jimmy Graham
That route is so clean you can eat off it. Throwing the ball up to that BBW (Big Beautiful Wide receiver) and having him be aggressive for the catch is just the cherry on top
I want to see a lot more of this. Graham is fucking huge. You can say he's the Kelvin Benjamin of Tight Ends; enormous. Throw the ball in his general direction and have him body some poor CB. Be aggressive with him and have him be aggressive for the ball.
GREEN BAY DEFENSE: THE GOOD
Great coverage by J. Jackson and really the defense overall
Look at the pick up and the passing off of the crossing routes in the middle. Nothing open and Stafford forced to check it down
Great coverage by Burks with Brice lurking over the top. Trips caused some confusion on the the other side with J. Jackson taking a bad angle. Rookie mistake
Way to slow to flow to the ball here. Brice times out the blitz really well and forces the RB back inside for just a second but Burks can't get off his block and Martinez just lingers around for a bit too long. This isn't the worst by any stretch but it's something good LBs have an instinct for. He has to process things faster
GREEN BAY PACKER DEFENSE: THE BAD
Fuck this soft zone bullshit. Fuck it dead. It's 3rd and 11 and everyone is open. Even the check down to the far left has a decent chance of picking up the yardage. On the right King needs to carry his man farther up field to the safety. This play is called back for penalty but it was just an awful call
Someone explain to me what H. Dix sees on the left side of the field that he thinks he'd be able to make a play on. Why leave the center of the end zone wide open?
GREEN BAY DEFENSE: THE UGLY
There's perfect coverage all over the field including on Golladay. Jackson knows he has help over the top so he's keeping on eye on the ball the whole way. He's in perfect position and then just whiffs. Props to Golladay for making a great catch and then embarrassing Dix
BONUS
Watch a DB grab on for dear life
Same play as above but watch this block by Williams. If that doesn't get you aroused then you're probably a regular dude but still it's a great block. He attacks his assignments, I love it.
RIP Slay. This makes my ankles hurt
GAMEDAY THREAD BINGO CARD - PLAY ALONG WITH ME
Random Thoughts:
- Aaron Rodgers hates check downs more than I hate my ex
- Aaron Rodgers is not reading the field well or there's something else going on. It may be an issue with looking for receivers he trusts or I'm not sure what else. He's leaving a lot of plays on the field
- Jimmy Graham is not who he use to be but he is still very useful
- Our rookie receivers are raw and don't run crisp routes. Compare any one of them to Adams and the difference is night and day but that can be coached. There's promise
- The people who complain about Jones not getting more touches in the 2nd half would be complaining about McCarthy's clock management if he had run it more
- There was nothing special about Jones' running in this game. The holes were wide open, I don't know why everyone is freaking out
- Our coaching staff has a lot of trust in Kevin King and he's earned it for the most part
- Kevin King was a little sloppy in this game
- I don't know how you can watch this game and say the issue was McCarthy or his play calling
- Please stop saying we rely on isolation routes. The reason we use isolation routes is because of the weapons we have on offense. With a lot of new receivers in this game, McCarthy used their speed and his play calling to our advantage and got them open in space. Rodgers missed a lot of them
- Bahktiari gets off the snap so fast I always think they're going to call false start on him. It's so impressive and one of the strongest parts of his game that no one talks about
- Maybe unpopular opinion but I think Dix wouldn't really be all that difficult to replace
- A lot of discussion has been going on about Jones pass blocking. He hasn't been asked to pass block for most of this year but looking at 3 games last year he was not very good. I have videos of bad blocks if you guys are interested
- I'd like to hear form all the people that say McCarthy doesn't run combination routes or that his offense is stale. OUR RECEIVERS ARE GETTING OPEN
