Existing Spectrum or New TDS fancy Fiber
Post Body

So, the neighborhood (as is half of Green Bay) is getting TDS fiber installed. Apart from digging up our yards and leaving a mess, we now have service representatives combing the streets with high pressure sign-ups. They won't put anything on paper in fear people will try to go to Spectrum for a match, because of course they will.

I've had Spectrum now for about a decade, and it's been OK. Maybe 90%-95% reliability over all, but absolute slow downs and glitches and spot outages at least once a week. It is a real pain trying to work from home between zoom meetings, and cloud dependent services. Overall, it's been sufficient, but the bumps happen at the worst possible times and very infuriating.

TDS claims great deals! But that's just a claim. Nothing in writing. They say "you won't get locked in a contract". I don't recall any ISP doing "contracts" in years. They say "our system is more reliable". They say "unlimited data". They say "we nearly have the entire block signed up". They say, "the more people signed up the faster we will get service installed".

My questions for fellow Redditors. The prices I see for a combo phone/internet package are $90/mo from TDS and $99/mo from Spectrum without working their match. I also wonder if TDS steals all my neighbors, if my Spectrum becomes more stable with better speeds as we clearly feel the pinch when everyone jumps on the same time.

Any opinions on services, and please be fair. We all know the pain Spectrum can be, but TDS can't be some golden option either. I simply want a fair price and a good service. Anyone have thoughts?
