Years ago. I found this picture on the web when I googled "Arsenate of Lead." I called PPG, the descendent of this division, and under the chemical industry, "Responsible Care" initiative they sent a hazmat company to my house to remove it, and sent to hazardous waste disposal.
It was only banned for food crops in 1988. The only real concern would be eating something like mushrooms grown in heavily contaminated soil (like an old orchard). Otherwise the lead (and arsenic) levels aren't as bad as you might imagine.

Pesticide. Lead arsenate is/was the only lead compound commonly used as a pesticide.
