Graggle Simpson IS REAL (Long History)
Post Body

We all know that Graggle Simpson was actually real, that's why we're on this subreddit. We all agree that Graggle was cut from the show, but why? First, we need to talk about who was Graggle Simpson, and his role in The Simpsons.

Graggle’s introduction in “Bart Simpson’s Guide to Life”

“He is Graggle, my dad’s best friend and beloved member of my family. Most of the people in Springfield don’t know what he is. I personally think that he is my uncle or something like that, but it doesn’t matter what he is, Graggle is one of my favorite persons in the city.”

Bart doesn’t know what Graggle is at 100%, he can only theorize about what he is. But we will come back to this later.

Graggle debuted at the Tracy Ulman shorts, just as the rest of the family, even in the early days of the show, we weren't given a clear explanation of what Graggle was. He was just an emotional support for the family, when there was a conflict to solve, he was always there to give answers. Graggle often was used as "Homer’s Friend” He was with him in almost all his adventures, he had a lot of things in common with Homer, that was why his adventures were so much fun for most of the public.

Graggle's contributions in Simpson’s episodes:

“Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?”: Graggle says not to trust Herbert, and is ignored by the family.

“Flaming’s Moe”: He stays with Homer when Moe steals his recipe.

“Rosebud”: As the family discusses what to do with Burns' offers, Graggle offers to trade the toy for a giant truck. The family is silent for a while, and Homer says he likes the idea, but Marge disapproves in silence.

“Mr. Plow”: Appears in Homer's commercial, he naively gets on the sweeper and ends up smashing it with the house.

“A Star is Burns”: There's a recurring joke about Graggle's hating of Jay Sherman.

“Homer the Great”: Is a part of the sect of the Stonecutters, but he leaves after Homer is expelled.

“Lemon Of Troy”: He travels to Shelbyville with Bart’s friends.

“Deep Space Homer”: At the end of the episode, he reveals that he was on a road trip, and after a bit of silence, he tells the family that he was hit by a lawnmower in Florida, everyone laughs, except him.

“Homer’s Enemy”: When Grimes tells Homer about the comforts he has, he points to a lemon and says "You have that lemon" (Possible reference to Graggle).

It’s popularly thought that Graggle was the self-insertion of Matt Groening, but that isn’t truth. At all. Matt Groening believed that Graggle was the best character in the show, a small fraction of fantasy in a city full of realism and exaggeration. But actually, Graggle represented someone different in the crew of the show: Ted Weber.

Ted Weber was the voice of Graggle, since the beginning of the show. In real life, he and Matt Groening were “Friends” Or well, Matt thought he was one of the best voices on the show, and Ted was a huge fan of the show.

Weber loved giving his voice on the show, in an interview, he discovered working on The Simpsons as "His dream job" But he was a particular person in real life, almost daily he was late for work, with the same excuse as always. "I fell asleep" He almost never went out into the street, and if he was found, he would run terrified from the fans. This situation was reported by at least 5 people who were fans of the show.

There is almost no information on Ted's opinions on much of anything, by the time the DVDs started selling he was no longer on the show. We just know that “Homer Goes to College” Was his favorite episode.

The FOX staff had a rumor that one day Ted walked into the writers' office and just said, "What if we do an episode about Bill Clinton?" Obviously, everyone looked at him strangely, and after a short time he had to leave. But why? Why did he want to do a Bill Clinton episode so desperately to trespass into the writers' office?

Ted had very... Ambiguous political ideologies. He supported the Republican party, and he had no problem showing it, which used to make his colleagues uncomfortable. It was okay, everyone has their own political views, but his way of talking about it was... Kinda weird.

Now, returning to the show.

“Who Killed Mr. Burns?”

Graggle was absent for the entire episode, which was weird. Almost every character in the series were there, Ned Flanders, Chef Wiggum, Krusty the Clown, Moe, and a lot more, but there was no indication of Graggle's existence, he was practically erased from reality.

During the first broadcast of the episode, in the last seconds of it, even after the credits, a voice could be heard. “Government is a lie. Wake up, America” And more talk about politics, almost without any sense.

It was Ted Weber, making an attempt of the Graggle voice, without any success. He sounded incredibly drunk, nearly passing out. The audio was cut off in many places, but much of his speech could still be heard clearly. In the last part, Weber says “And that rat, Bill Clinton, if I find him...” Just then, the episode ends.

Many years later, on May 27, 2021, A dialogue from the episode "Who Killed Mr. Burns Part 2" was leaked. apparently, it was cut from the episode for no reason, since there was no talk of any length problem, even this contributed to the plot, it is believed that, if it was eliminated, it was due to the action of FOX itself. In the dialogue, we can see that Graggle is talking to Mr. Burns at late night.

Graggle: The job is done, Burns.

Mr. Burns: Graggle, just tell my… Why?

Graggle: You wanted to fake your death for financial gain, I shot you, deal done.

Mr. Burns: But why the baby?

Graggle: Because it was easy.

Mr. Burns: She was your own family, you really wanted me to…?

Graggle: I knew that you wouldn’t do anything. To her, or to anyone else.

Mr. Burns: You could blame Marge, the kid, Homer...

Graggle: I would never do that to Homer.

Mr. Burns: Even if not, you will still abandon them

Graggle: Well, I need to go.

Mr. Burns: No, you don’t.

Graggle: Yes, I need, now let me get out of this place.

Mr. Burns: You born here, and I created you… Graggle, hear…

Graggle: You did not create anything. Just pain. If I exist, it is thanks to Homer.

Mr. Burns: Thanks to Homer and my Nuclear…

Graggle: Goodbye, Mr. Burns, good luck.

This single dialog clears up ALL questions about Graggle. He is a creation of Homer, possibly created from a mistake at the nuclear plant, which resulted in his birth. But why doesn't Homer or anyone else in town seem to know? Well, this is possibly because of Mr. Burns. He's hiding Homer's terrible mistake, the terrible mistake that created Graggle, but we don't know why.

In the other hand, it’s clear that Graggle wants to leave Springfield, but we don't know why, we just know that he's in a hurry. Did he get tired of the city? Are you tired of the Simpsons? Where will he go? And most important. Why did FOX remove this from the episode?

27 May, 1995.

Man found dead in a Los Angeles rental apartment. The body is associated with Ted Weber, voice actor on "The Simpsons” as the character of Graggle Simpson.

In the apartment, they found: A loaded firearm, a personal diary with pages torn out, a Confederate flag, an apparently handmade fascist swastika, a printed painting of Adolf Hitler. A photo of George Lincoln.

Transcribed from Ted Weber's diary:
“Every day I dream of assassinating that damned Democrat rat (Clinton). I have been told that it would be presented on January 2 in this city. The moment he shows up, I'm going to point this gun at his head and blow his brains out, I'm not afraid of death.”

“I don't care if I got fired, I put that message on TV and I don't think anyone in that group of assholes has noticed yet. Matt Groening is a fucking retard who deserves the worst of deaths.”

“I don't understand why the media tries to censor Nazi Germany... I think worse things have been done in this nation, and still, they treat the Nazis like the worst trash on the planet. Simply American hypocrisy.”

In May '95, Ted was fired on an allegation of punching Nancy Cartwright, Bart Simpson's voice actress on the show, in the face.

After so many devastating events, FOX made the drastic decision to erase Graggle's character from existence. But how? How do you eliminate a character that has been with the family for 7 seasons, appearing in almost every episode? Easy. You make them forget about him.

It is estimated that in 1995, FOX spent a significant sum of money just creating posters with the image of The Simpsons. It's the image you might remember, one where Graggle was totally removed.

Also, Fox did another million-dollar job editing every single episode of The Simpsons thus far, only to remove Graggle. That is why in several fragments of the series, one can feel that the characters feel... Strange. As if they are missing an interaction with someone or something.

Slowly, people began to forget about Graggle. It disappeared slowly and painfully, not only from television, but also from the minds of fans of the show. A decades-long manipulation of making the entire population of the United States forget about Graggle and the man who gave him a voice.

Graggle was never shown on television again. In the United States, this was eliminated, but in the rest of the world, this character is not even remembered. So, if you ask someone in, say, Argentina, they won't present any memories of Graggle, but in America, there will be even a small memory.

If you remember Graggle, congratulations. You managed to overcome more than 10 years of brainwashing.
