Did I make a mistake in how I got my masters?

I notice everyone on here talking about how they will defend or just defended their thesis. I was able to avoid this by taking and extra graduate level course and I passed a comprehensive exam (I actually passed something called the Second year research exam). This was known as the Master’s Plan II at my University. Has anyone else obtained their degree this way and if so, have you faced any issue in regards to finding a job or going back to school later on?
