I am approaching the end of my second year of grad school for Chemistry and as much I have enjoyed my time here with an amazing advisor, I have come to the decision that I am going to Master out of the program instead of continuing on to my PhD. I did not come to this decision lightly but I know it is the correct one. I am hoping for some advice on how to break the news to my advisor and how I can handle a possible negative reaction to this news? Does anyone have experience with this that can provide some advice. I am primarily concerned with my advisor wanting to cut me lose early since I am planning to leave or having any negative repercussions from leaving βearlyβ.
