I wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction:

I am looking at where to apply for PhD studies.

One of my professors drummed up an old study by the National Research Council ranking research doctorate programs by subject to view the best options for research doctorates in my subject. But this info is almost 30 years old.

Has anyone seen a more recent study? Or, better yet, is there anywhere to see rankings of graduate programs by subject for someone trying to decide on where to apply?
