Ok I'll be honest I love this sub XD It inspires me to do better.
- Is this sub for PhD/Master by research students? I am masters by coursework, so I hope I am in the right place.
Here's my story.
So at 34/35, I am pursuing my 2nd masters, I got my first one, was easy and was managing to get Credit and Some Distinction and HDs. The course overall was easy to understand was a more generalize master of IT (16 units thou). I decided I love cybersecurity so I decide to do a specialized masters for it. This is my first semester. Unfortunately, I did really bad, maybe I was doing the following wrong
a. complacent [how hard can it be if I already did one masters?]
b. Stressing myself [unfortunately I am a perfectionist, terrible trait to have, I remember spending overnights in the library to push out assignments] And yes I mark my dates carefully in my calendar and am never afraid to approach lecturer/tutors for help.
c. Anxiety [didn't know I have that until recently] apparently I am the on the go kinda girl. I need to learn mindfulness~~~
d. focus more on practical than theory? The main issue in class they teach theory in a big-picture [if you are lucky they have recorded, but I had one class without recordings] and forces you to focus on the practical part of the subject [for example programming] So come exam time everyone is like what theory?
I realize I need to definitely put more effort in theory, but it is hard when the weeks fly by so fast~~~~
my main issue has been
lecturers who drone on and on or some that go too fast like a bullet train
I can go to a lecture but eventually, I will lose focus, like sometimes I drift and then.....
lecture note-taking, I cannot keep up with the lecturer pace, by the time I write sometimes he has moved on to another part.....
I would love to hear any study tips or tricks that can make me more efficient in note-taking and also study tips for the coming semester. Any words of motivation are welcomed as well
Thank you for reading to this point.
Happy holidays
