As I'm in the humanities, there are some books I'd like to keep as references by myself at all times but which I don't have convenient electronic versions for (mostly non-English books, and I'm talking about things important and relevant to my research areas, not textbooks that I can sell off after finishing a course). The set is fairly small at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it will grow larger with time, and may not fit into a suitcase. My question, which may be stupid, is how do you own books like this as an international student who returns home every summer? I'd think of scanning them, and I probably would scan some, but I'm not sure I want to do that with books that are 500 pages. I'd like to hear ideas on how you made owning books work for you. Thanks!
